Basic Chromebook Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble with a Chromebook, here are some common issues and basic troubleshooting steps to try before submitting a ticket for repair.
Internet/Website/Online Exams Not Loading:
First, ask the student to turn the WIFI on his Chromebook off and on again. If this doesn't solve the connection issues, we may ask you to clear the cache and cookies on your Chromebook. Please follow these steps to clear the Chromebook's cache:
Open Chrome (web browser) and click on the 3 dots in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
Click on Privacy and Security.
Click on Clear browsing data.
Verify all the settings on the screen as shown above.
Click on Clear data.
Chromebook Won't Turn On:
If the Chromebook won't turn on, but the power button on the side of the Chromebook is lit up, there is a keyboard combo you can push to restart the Chromebook. Hold down the lit-up power button and then press the refresh key (pictured below). This will cause your Chromebook to do a “Hard Reboot” and should get it to turn on. If it does not, please contact your site tech.
