Chromebook Fees
Insurance and Lease Fees
There is an annual Insurance and Fee of $25 for the Chromebook (“District-issued Device”). The insurance and lease fee includes a zero deductible device insurance policy, but must be paid at the time of device pickup and by the end of August each following school year to be active. If you miss this deadline, insurance and lease can be paid, but the chromebook must be inspected for damage prior to the insurance taking effect. Insurance and lease fees are applied to the option to buy cost for seniors.
Common Repair/Fee Pricing
* If a non-functioning but otherwise undamaged (cord and power brick is in tact) is returned, the cost will be $0.00
** If a police report is turned in within 72 hours stated the chromebook was stolen, the cost will be $200.00
Fee Cap
With the exception of chargers and full device replacement that are not covered by the district's accidental damage protection (ADP) insurance, there is a fee cap of $80.00 for 4 years that covers the cost of the ADP insurance. Fees do not apply to the option to buy cost for seniors.
Option to Buy
Seniors are given the option to buy their chromebook at the end of their senior year. The cost to buy the chromebook is $100. Insurance and lease fees are applied to this cost, repair costs are not. If a student has paid their insurance and lease fees every year, their chromebook will be paid for. They still have to return a signed purchase agreement and verify their chromebook with technology staff during senior chromebook collection in order to purchase their chromebook.
